The Historical Interpreters will be formally available for sketching from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM and informally thereafter. Many planned events will take place during this full day event (10 AM – 4 PM), including the firing of a 3-inch artillery gun.

Artists may enter the Sketching Contest (free of charge) to compete for a “Top 3″ award as judged by noted Lewes artist Paul Rendel. One to five entries per artist may be submitted up to 2 weeks following the Open House and will be hung in the Fort Miles Museum Visiting Artists Gallery. Following completion of the contest, winning artists may leave sketches on display at the Gallery throughout the summer.

Registration:  Artists wishing to submit  sketches for the contest must register prior to April 20th by completing the form below.

For questions, please email info@fortmilesha.org

Contest Rules: Become a “Combat Artist” for a day.

Artists registering for the Sketching Event may enter 1-5 sketches relating to the Open House event or Fort Miles Museum displays. On the day of the event, registered artists will receive a pass for a free tour of Battery 519 at Fort Miles for the artist and one guest. The event will take place rain or shine.

For an artist’s sketches to be eligible for judging, the artist should register online not later than April 20th.

All contest entries must be 12” x 18”or smaller in size. Entries should be framed for display or mounted on core board or another similar material.

Artists to furnish all necessary sketching materials.

Artists will have up to 2 weeks following the event to complete sketches to be entered.

Due to space limitations, our juror, Lewes artist Paul Rendel, will then determine which entries are to be displayed and judged.

Artists whose sketches are judged as one or more of the “Top 3” sketches will have their sketches hung in the Fort Miles Museum art gallery, with appropriate recognition and receive recognition on the FMHA website and Facebook page.
