Some of Our Favorite People were just featured in two of our favorite publications, Delaware Beach Life and the Cape Gazette.

The Delaware Beach Life May issue has an informative piece on Abraxas, an artist who has been a great friend to FMHA over the years. Brax Hudson grew up in Lewes and is now a professional artist and business owner, with a shop on 2nd Street in downtown Lewes. “A Light Touch” describes how Abraxas is somehow able to intermix water and light to create iconic paintings such as the one of Fire Control Towers 3 and 4 that are positioned right on the beach between Cape Henlopen State Park and downtown Rehoboth Beach. FMHA is fortunate to have this painting hanging in the Fort Miles Museum. Read “A Light Touch”.

If you like the article, the man to thank is Terry Plowman, Editor and Publisher of DelawareBeach Life, and the woman to thank is Susan Towers, Contributing Writer. As well, consider subscribing to Terry’s publication by going to www.delawarebeachlife.com.Delaware Beach Life delves into the details of the activities and thoughts of the many fascinating individuals who live and work along the Delaware coast. You will enjoy it!

The Friday, April 19 – Monday, April 22 edition of the Cape Gazette newspaper published an article written by Nick Roth entitled “Schroeder family honored for community service. The Schroeder family has also been a great friend to FMHA. In 2016, John Schroeder, his sister Carole and his brother Rob joined with FMHA and Delaware State Parks to open a gallery at the Fort Miles Museum to honor their father, Howard Schroeder. As many know, Howard Schroeder was stationed at Fort Miles starting in 1942, where he really polished his artistic skills painting scenes of Fort Miles and the surrounding community. A number of these paintings can be seen at the Fort Miles Museum.

The story honors the entire Schroeder family – Howard and his wife Marian, John, Carole, Rob, Stephen, Howard Jr and Gail – by describing the presentation of the Greater Lewes Foundation’s Citizen Award, which was presented to the family on April 13th. This is another opportunity us to thank Dennis Forney, publisher of the Cape Gazette, for his newspaper’s long time support of FMHA.
