Thanks to the efforts of FMHA Board Member Mike Dunkes, other Board Member and Bunker Buster volunteers, the staff at Cape Henlopen State Park and the Delaware State Police, FMHA displayed several WWII era pieces of equipment in downtown Rehoboth Beach on June 9th.
The 90mm Gun and Searchlight are escorted from Fort Miles to downtown Rehoboth Beach.
Delaware State Police and FMHA volunteers combined to convoy a 90mm anti-aircraft/anti-tank gun smack into downtown Rehoboth. FMHA and Delaware State Parks partnered to acquire this gun, which is the exact type utilized at Fort Miles during WWII, earlier in 2018. The gun was refurbished and painted by a Bunker Buster team led by Dan Brown and Pat Bragdon.
A World War II searchlight, also representative of the searchlights utilized at Fort Miles, rolled into downtown Rehoboth during the Red, White and Blue celebration. This festival, now three years old, honors America’s service men and women, the USO, fire fighters, law enforcement agencies and emergency responders. It was a good day!
USO Club representatives decked in Red, White and Blue posed in front of the 90mm Gun.
90mm and Searchlight reached their destination at the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk.
Miss New Castle County added beauty to our display!
