The FMHA “Museum Happenings” is published monthly and more frequently as needed to keep you up-to-date on events at the Fort Miles Museum. This update is as of July 27th. 

 

Fort Miles Museum Continues Daily Tours 

Fort Miles Museum is open daily, 10 am – 4 pm, Tuesday – Saturday. 

Guided tours are conducted by Delaware State Parks’ historic interpreters. Three tours are now offered daily on the ongoing Tuesday – Saturday schedule. The tour times are 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM, with a $5/person tour charge in effect (children 7 and under excepted). These are group tours limited to 10 visitors per tour. Advance reservations are required and can be made by calling 302-644-5007. The Museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays. 

The Museum is subject to compliance with Delaware safety regulations, including the requirement that face masks be worn inside the Museum/Battery 519.


“Fire Mission – Fort Miles” 

Prints of Milton-based artist Paul Rendel’s latest World War II painting, “Fire Mission – Fort Miles” are now available for purchase through FMHA. Please see the adjacent post for all the details. A recent buyer said “The prints look even better in person than online!” 

Fort Miles Lantern Tour and Cold War Bike Tours 

Two other tour opportunities are also now available. 

 

Lantern Tours:  Wednesdays, July 22nd, 8:30 PM and August 5th at 8:00 PM 

Explore Fort Miles by lantern light and discover U-boats on the prowl, sailors in distress and a unique look into what life was like for soldiers stationed at Fort Miles during World War II. There is a 10-person limit and advance reservations are required by calling 302-644-5007. These tours are for ages 10 and older with a paying adult. The tour fee is $5 per person. 

 

Cold War Bike Tours:  Fridays, July 31st and August 7th at 10:30 AM 

Ride with a park historian to see Cold War relics in Cape Henlopen State Park. Hear tales of doomsday ships, spies, Soviet submarine tracking and more. You must bring your own bike. Tours are for ages 10 and over with a paying adult and reservations are required by calling 302-644-5007. The tour fee is $5 per person.
