The FMHA “Museum Happenings” is published monthly to keep you up-to-date on events at the Fort Miles Museum.
Delaware State Parks has cancelled all group events through May 15th. Cape Henlopen State Park will remain open, subject to ongoing review by the State of Delaware. However, no Museum tours will be given commencing March 20th. In addition, the following events have been postponed.
2020 Film & Lecture Series – Postponed!
The final 2020 presentation scheduled to take place on March 28th featuring Part II of the movie “To Hell and Back” has been postponed indefinitely.
Big Gun Run – Postponed!
The Big Gun Run scheduled for April 5th has been postponed until October 18th. Those registered will receive an email from Races 2 Run, the race coordinator.
Delaware Defense Day – Postponed!
The annual Fort Miles open house, Delaware Defense Day, has also been postponed indefinitely. We hope to reschedule this very special event later in 2020.
Delaware State Parks Battery 519 Tours and Lantern Tours of Fort Miles
Visitors to Cape Henlopen State Park and Fort Miles wishing to see Battery 519 can do so by joining scheduled tours conducted by Delaware State Parks’ interpretative guides. These tours are scheduled as shown below. Please note – all tours are suspended through May 15.

Discover Battery 519 tours are for ages 7 and up with a paying adult(s) ($5 per person). Pre-registration is required. Please call 302-644-5007.
Lantern Tours of Fort Miles are scheduled as follows:
Lantern Tours are for ages 10 and older. Pre-registration is required. Call 302-644-5007. Limit 30, $5 per person.
Artillery Park Walk
Join knowledgeable interpreters on a walk through the Fort Miles Museum’s outdoor Artillery Park. Learn about the purpose of the many types of artillery pieces that guarded the entrance to the Delaware Bay and beaches during World War II. For ages 7 and older accompanied by an adult. Limit 20, free. Pre-registration required – call 302-644-5007.
Truckin’ Through History
Take a ride on an historic WWII troop carrying truck as we tour the park looking at some of the lesser known remains of Fort Miles. Tours meet at the Biden Center, and tickets go on sale at the Fort Miles Museum each Saturday morning on a first-come, first served basis. For ages 7 and up with a paying adult. Maximum of four tickets per group. Limit 12 per ride. $8 per person.
